With the full slate of week nine action kicking off on Sunday morning, it's time to take a good hard look in the mirror. Have your dynasty dreams come true? Or have your Halloween nightmares extended into early November? Either way, the best time to do something to better your future is always today (Thanks for the advice Dad!). So unless you can pull a Marty McFly to bring yourself back to the start of the season in your DeLorean, you better dig in.
Dynasty Buys for Contenders
Dak Prescott - KTC QB 16 CPA QB 14
It's been a long time since I valued Prescott more than the consensus values of KeepTradeCut, but here we are. While he has been mostly average this season, he is coming off his best game of the season following the Cowboys bye, with a four touchdown performance against the Rams. You could do much worse for a low-end QB 1 or high-end QB 2. Recent trades on the DLF trade finder show Prescott being acquired for the pair of DJ Chark and Russell Wilson, and a late 2024 1st Round Pick. I'm smashing accept on either of these if I'm a contender in need of a Quarterback.
Adam Thielen - KTC WR 50 CPA WR 50
I know this is painfully obvious, but I don't believe enough people are actually buying. Through seven games Thielen has produced at a WR 1 level with 57 catches for 581 yards and 4 touchdowns, or per game averages of just over 8 catches, 80 yards, and a touchdown every other game. Thielen is regularly going for a 2024 2nd round pick, this is an easy buy for a WR needy contender.
Chuba Hubbard - KTC RB 41 CPA RB 46
Nobody will be impressed when you trade for Hubbard, but he can fill in as a cheap RB 2 or flex in a pinch down the stretch. It's crazy to say after the hype that Miles Sanders has gotten, but Hubbard is the clear RB 1 in Carolina. The DLF trade finder has multiple instances where Hubbard was acquired for 2024 3rd Round Pick, this is absolutely fair value for a solid RB fill in.
Logan Thomas - KTC TE 25 CPA TE Unranked
While he is too deep to make the dynasty rankings at Dynasty CPA, a short term thinking dynasty manager needs to consider Thomas to fill a void at tight end. Unexciting but solid, Thomas can give you 50 yards and a touchdown any week, which is more than I can say about most tight ends you will find being streamed week to week. The DLF trade find has seen Thomas acquired for 2024 5th Round Rookie Pick, and Khalil Shakir this past week. Thomas is likely a 2023 bet only, but feels like a solid fill-in option for the rest of this season as a contender.
Dynasty Buys for Surrenders
Kyler Murray - KTC QB 11 CPA QB 9
You may have missed your true buy-low window on Kyler, but there is still some wiggle room to buy at value. True QB 1's are not often available on the marketplace so better late than never. DLF has seen Kyler acquired for a 2024 1st Round Pick, and for a 2025 1st Round Pick straight up. You are stealing at this price, don't let it pass you by.
Devonta Smith - KTC WR 13 CPA WR 9
AJ Brown's offensive explosion has caused dynasty managers opinion of Smith to sour, it's time to capitalize on this mistake. Managers who are looking to the future need to swoop in to buy Smith before his true breakout game of 2023, because this window will not be open for long. Two trades jump out on the DLF trade finder, Smith being acquired for Austin Ekeler... and Smith being acquired for George Pickens.
Javonte Williams - KTC RB 15 CPA RB 14
Week Eight was the welcome back party for Javonte as he finally looks recovered from the injuries of the past year. Despite this, the market hasn't adjusted back far enough quite yet. While I don't typically advise buying running backs on non-contenders, Javonte is one of the exceptions. The DLF trade finder has seen Javonte acquired for your choice of Christian Watson or Brian Robinson. Smash Accept.
Dynasty Sell for a Contender
Tony Pollard - KTC RB 13 CPA RB 13
While the market seems to be in line with my thinking on Pollard now, the trade market is still bringing a strong return for the Cowboys back. If I'm contending, I'm pivoting off of Pollard. The DLF trade finder has seen Pollard traded with a 1st for Travis Etienne and a 2nd, and straight up for Austin Ekeler. These trades are both excellent examples of a strong contender pivot.
Dynasty Sells for Surrenders
George Pickens - KTC WR 24 CPA WR 33
Conventional wisdom for a rebuilder would be to acquire skilled young wide receivers, in the case of Pickens I'm willing to bet against this notion. The market seems to be overly high on a player who has shown himself to be incredibly frustrating to own outside the occasional highlight reel catch. I'm selling Pickens even on rebuilders at the current market price. The DLF trade finder saw Pickens and a 2024 1st Round Pick traded for AJ Brown this past week, and Pickens traded straight up for Nico Collins. It's time to move on before the market catches up on Pickens.
The Obvious
Derrick Henry, Joe Mixon, Austin Ekeler, Saquan Barkley, Alvin Kamara, Cooper Kupp, Keenan Allen, Mike Evans, and Adam Thielen. As a rebuilder, I'm typically trying to clear my roster of running backs outside of the true young studs, and I'm emptying my roster of any 30ish plus wide receiver.
Contender or Surrender?
The time is now to determine your path and look to the future. Do not drag your feet, because tomorrow's prices are not today's prices. So whether you are working towards a championship this year, or in 2026, the time is now!
